Ok, so for class, I needed a good example and a bad example of Repetition. Well why not talk about the lack of repetition found in my playstation collection.. The images I am supplying first will be random games I photoshopped together, and the last two will be a repost of images I posted on an earlier blog.
Repetition is a design choice, a good design choice. It is something that repeats it self in a good way. Could be a bold font used in letters, a font choice, or even logos. Repetition is useful because it makes all designs look very professional, and better looking. I try to use repetition in all of my work, well because of the reasons I listed above. It is needed to make my designs look good and professional.
GOOD EXAMPLE OF REPETITION.
Notice the nice repeating PS3 logo up top. Really makes the collection look great as a whole. Even the region 1 logo on the bottom is a nice repetition choice. Now I’m not saying this entire picture is a good example of repetition. For example, the TT (titles of games) don’t line up nicely, but these are all done by different designers, that would take a huge collaboration from all the designers. So we look past that little tid bit.
YIKES…. Look at these random logos. Sony decided to change their logo after about 3 or 4 years into the life of PS3. But what a bad design choice. They killed their repetition here with this new logo. Granted I think it looks better, but they should of stuck with the same one. Also with the greatest hits, they made the new logo RED!… RED!.. So not only do you have 2 different logos, you also get some red ones thrown in the mix. Bad bad idea.
Here are two picures of my collection, A-C… The first picture is BAD repetition and the second picture is GOOD repetition. I re-designed my covers to all match…
